We traveled from Pensacola, Florida to dine at this fine establishment. Been following SaltPepperOak for months on Tiktok. Vincent puts his soul into his place of work which is more like his second home. There's no guessing what your plate may look like when eating here. The magic unfolds infront of you as he prepares your feast before you on a platter. His whole crew working there are great people. You feel family vibes among them which is beautiful. The bbq is beautiful. I've had good bbq at other places, but this place my friends is great bbq. Ordered the three meat plate. Ribs, brisket, burnt ends and added sausage. Everything was full of flavor. Brisket was moist and tender. In house made beef sausage was wonderful. Burnt ends are great! Potato salad and mac n chesse were awesome sides. Make that drive and try this place out. You'll be back. It's a must try if you would like to experience greatness. Follow them on Facebook, especially on Tiktok...and hit that like button! Overall great experience. My wife's been watching on tik tok, we drove in from Baton Rouge. Grew up in TX on good barbecue, best smoke ring I've seen since. Vincent mentioned a pop up in Baton Rouge, I'll be first in line because TJs just can't compete. Well worth the drive.
We have traveled throughout the US and have been to many BBQ joints. I'm also an avid cook/foodie. This place rocks! We had brisket, sausage, pork belly and turkey. All of the meats were excellent! Sides were good but the brisket and sausage stole the show! Customer service was great! We even met the owner and his buddy, and got a tour of his pits. Great experience. If your in the area, eat here!
What a great spot! Vincent(owner) is quite the character and engages each customer with detail on the menu items. Ashley does a great job running the kitchen-and wow every plate of Nachos looks like art. The rest of the team is hardworking and customer focused! The BBQ is great!-The sides are great! But man the star of the show(unexpected at a BBQ joint) is the Cheesecake-very unique and light cheesecake that is the best I've had-Job well done by their in-house baker-Claudea!. Great spot-Great team. Here's to continued success!!!
We went to salt pepper oak for lunch. There was a line of people waiting which is always a good sign, especially for a new restaurant.. luckily the line moved very quickly and we enjoyed watching the fun atmosphere and friendly staff while we decided what to order. We got a 2-meat tray (brisket and pork belly burnt ends) and a 1-meat tray (pork spare ribs), and with each Mac n cheese and slaw as sides. The meats were all EXCELLENT- moist, smoky, so simple but soooooo flavorful. It was hard to choose a favorite but the burnt ends, especially with the peach glaze, were absolute stand outs. The meats came with tangy pickled cucumbers and onions on the side which were a great addition to cut through the richness of the meat. The sides were good, but perhaps needed a little more seasoning, or punch of flavor. But they got the job done and honestly the meat is what we came for- and it delivered. We plan on coming back over and over again. Great staff, fun atmosphere and excellent bbq- try it out!!
