Alice's Cafe

Im from Houston Texas down here for cruising the coast had a hankering for some good soul food boy did I strike gold food is delicious i will be going back tomorrow and every year I come to cruising the coast

Was looking for comfort food for lunch and came across Alice's cafe. Very friendly and pretty good food. We had the Thursday special, fried Catfish. Will definitely go back again!

Well-established (14 years) family business, owned/operated by Ms. Pat Gillum. Her sister, Jean, also works with her. I just came from Alice's Cafe, and also just finished every last morsel of their delicious down-home cooking!!! I had told Jean, even before I'd begun eating the lunch that they had just served me, that I was now one of their official "regulars" from this day forward. I had delicious smothered chicken, rice and gravy, turnip greens, cornbread, and last but not least, for dessert, their out-of-this-world bread pudding!!!! For good measure, I have to say that every last item of food that they served me was completely and literally out of this world!!! They also accept tips, and for good reason!! They also are open on Saturdays! I had this feeling that I would become passionate about Alice's Cafe, so I must be psychic because after having gone there, I am even more passionate about their business!!! For anyone who has never been to Alice's Cafe and loves down-home cooking, you just have to go and find out for yourself, since my words can never do it justice. Highly recommend, and then some!!!

Visited a couple of times while in area. Little hole in wall homey little cafe/diner. Very friendly, very affordable and some of the best food you'll ever eat. Maybe that's because the cook has been cooking for 70 years as the waitress told me. Best red beans/rice, best turnip greens, best Lima beans, best pork chop and Cole slaw I've EVER had. This is well worth a visit when you're in Gulfport.
