Blow Fly Bar and Grill

We had the PERFECT lunch here a couple of days ago and wanted to share this “just off the beaten path” treasure with everyone. Celebrating my birthday, we were told by friends to try it. When you approach the building, it’s almost like someone’s home on the bay. Eat outside on the upper deck if at all possible under the giant, ancient live oak tree and overlooking the water. SUCH a great setting for a meal or drinks. If not, you have a nice indoor part of the restaurant and bar to choose from with a long bank of windows over the bay. Our food was delicious-from the Bayou nachos to the brunch items like The Kremer and the Garden Toast- which was sliced and baked sweet potato as the “toast” with avocado and eggs and more. All were prepared perfectly, but the real treat was our server Olga. She was so kind and courteous and delightful. We used to work in this industry and are still in customer service and we love to recognize a fellow server who is compassionate and efficient and friendly and just does an excellent job. We give the whole experience, and Olga, five stars!

Great food and a wonderful view of the back bay! Service was spot on and super friendly. Everything was very tasty. Blackened Mahi was perfect.

Emily D was our server. She was amazing. Food was so delicious. My fav was definitely the boudin balls! Hubby absolutely loved his black and blue burger. So juicy and the blue cheese was baked in the meat! We will absolutely be going back again! Happy Hour specials too! Great hidden gem!

Really enjoyed this place. The appetizer of fried boudain balls and the Cajun egg rolls were phenomenal, very tasty. The seafood gumbo was also very good, lots of fish, shrimp and crab meat in it, roux was thick and full of flavor. The main course of the shrimp platter, one grilled and one fried was great, good sized shrimp, 10 come on the platter. I normally don’t eat hush puppies but I ate these and loved them. Squash and onion rings both great. Learned about this place on DDD. Only disappointment was no fly on the food like the DDD showed, but it was still great. Nice view outside as well.

Had the best blackened Tuna cooked perfectly with so much flavor. My husband loved the Ribeye and Brussel Sprouts. Both were cooked perfectly and so flavorful. The parents were visiting from Indiana and we took them there for their last meal in Mississippi and they absolutely loved it. We had great service and atmosphere was fun and comfortable with beautiful views. So great to have this place in our neighborhood and will be back!
