I lived in Gulfoort in the early 80's, and used to love this place. Some friends and I skipped out of school (GHS) at lunch and went there, only to have the principal (Gendron, back then) and vice principal walk in for lunch. Anyway, they must be doing something right to still be going. Crabcakes were really good, and reasonably priced. These are not "jumbo lump", but have plenty of crab and flavor. However, the minus one star is due to the poboy, which is a signature dish. Catfish was a little soft, not crispy. Worst of all was the bread, supposedly trucked in from New Orleans. Not sure where this soft, tasteless bread is made, but it is not from one of New Orleans' well-known bakeries. A true poboy cannot be made without the right bread, and the bread sucks. Possibly a COVID issue, maybe the bread they want isn't available.

Got the crab cakes, they were good but had a few shell pieces, place was pretty crowded even at 1 for lunch so other menu items may be much better. Staff was friendly and attentive once I sat down

Had lunch there today. Ordered the Fried Green tomato and shrimp Po boy. Was very good, shrimp had good taste. I also had the Debri fries. Very tasty. Friendly staff, i recommend thus restaurant

We are new to the area and we were trying to find a place that was a small place and not so “touristy”. We stumbled upon this establishment and was VERY pleased with our choice. We were seated as soon as we walked in the door, our waitress was very nice and knew the menu, food was delivered in a timely manner and it was scrumptious. My only complaint would be the side salad was a little strange lol (lettuce, tomatoes and okra) but it wasn’t enough of a deal to take away from 5 stars. We will definitely be back!
