Ajax Diner

I went to Ajax as part of a conference that I attended with some English faculty from Delta State University. It was divine and very fairly priced. Be prepared to either walk around or take a nap after eating this rich southern food. The atmosphere is very comfortable for all ages. It is not a far walk from Square Books.

Cool place in the square to eat. Really liked the vibe and atmosphere. Food was good and service was as well. Nice sized portions. Really loved the smoked catfish dip!!!

Home style Southern food
We had dinner here on our first night in Oxford - one turkey dinner and one pot roast dinner. Each meal came with cornbread and two sides so it ended up being a very substantial dinner. The service was friendly, the portions were large and the prices were reasonable.

The place was cramped up so I was a bit skeptical. The food definitely made up for it. I ordered rice and beans and fries. It was really good. The service was relatively fast and okay. Will definitely go again.

I sadly ate alone while on a business trip, but I had the hot tamale pie and it was fantastic. Great service and clearly a crowd of regulars. It was too dark in the restaurant and that dim lighting was hiding a serious need for deep cleaning and a bit of updating. Still, great fare. Exactly what I'd hoped.
