Wholesome southern soul food at its best!!!! I will definitely be visiting this unique nostalgic ambient memoir of Mississippi history as long as it exist. I love you Mrs. Helen
????My Auntie Helen Has The Best Soul Food In Town????????????????????????
Food:
Tried two different items: The Salmon & Egg Biscuit and Bacon, Egg & Cheese Sandwich. Both were extremely good. The BEC had thick buttery toast with gooey cheddar cheese and what appeared to be thick hickory style bacon and a hard fried egg. The Salmon was lightly crisped on the surface and moist and flavorful inside.
Environment:
Definitely a down home atmosphere. It was like visiting your grandma's house for breakfast on a cold crisp morning. It's also very nice for the owner to chat with ya and personally bring your food. You can tell there's a lot of rich history in that restaurant and neighborhood. They don't take card payments but it's all good. They have wifi which is a huge plus.
Awesome first visit! Definitely won't be the last.
The peach cobbler here is Old School jumping. This is a cash based business we only had a card and she let us have our food anyway. She said it was our blessing and that at least we could remember her by doing a good deed! Mrs. Helen was in there peeling her sweet potatoes for tmmrw w/a ????. This is family owned & operated they are so nice its warm & cozy!
I had lunch at Helen’s yesterday and it truly is a family restaurant. Her two sons and granddaughter were there working. I also had the privilege of meeting Helen and she is 80 and still working! I was impressed with the fried chicken(they also had lasagna and livers) mashed potatoes with gravy, outstanding cabbage, pancake shaped bread and iced tea. If you are looking for REAL southern, down home cooking then visit Helen’s . She is a sweetheart and her food is some kinda tasty. Oh and I forgot she offers dessert too but I didn’t have enough space in my tummy for more food! Go there and experience the flavor of old style southern cuisine and more importantly the hospitality of these fine people.
