It used to be Huddle House. We loved going. It changed to Spillway Diner last year. There are more menu items now. The cook is the same. Breakfast tastes pretty much the same.
We stopped in because I wanted a burger. I ordered the bacon cheeseburger ? and fries. My friend ordered the patty melt and fries. Both were excellent. Customer service was excellent. The are also available for Waiter and Grub Hub.
I would go back but I noticed I got over charged not just 1 time but 3 times $1.49 for drinks that comes with the kids meal and the dinner. I still have my receipts. Its the young Caucasian girl at the register. When I asked her if drinks come with the meals she said yes.. i asked her why she overcharged me on last order and i showed her the receipt. She apologized or whatever.. but i looked back at my other 2 prior receipts and she overcharged me both times. The last time, on a Saturday after 5p.m , I visited amd ordered wings and the Black American lady with the locs undercooked my chicken wings and I had to put them in the oven for another 5 to 8 minutes. I can only guess the lady thought that taking chicken out of grease early will still cook the chicken through. The chicken skin was soggy on the outside and the inside still had blood on the bones. I ordered lemon pepper and mild wings 6 of each. I also didn't even go back because I felt like they only did that because I was new and checking out restaurants in the area. I thought this one would be my favorite but turns out not to be. The food prior to the wings is really good though. Homemade and fresh tastes and I wanna say atleast 4star rating. I figured maybe I came with the wrong crew there....I don't plan on going back.
This was by far the friendliest and most attentive staff I have ever had the pleasure of meeting! Valencia (I am definitely spelling that incorrectly) was absolutely charming! She laughed and danced with my wife and me to 60s and 70s music and made us feel so special! the food was just a blessing as well! Jermaine (again, probably butchering the spelling) is a magician at that grill! I've not had an omelet that was even close to as good as the one he whipped up! And those all-the-way hash browns? Spectacular! Please do yourself a favor and get your whole family down to the Spillway Diner...it's a diamond in the rough, and we need it to stay around a long, long time!
PS: they serve WAY more than breakfast! They have wings, chicken fried steak, pork chops, catfish, red beans and rice, and all kinds of deliciousness that can satisfy any craving!
Ate here for the first time on a Saturday morning and this place was hopping!! Loved hearing the interaction of the employees as they took care of their diners. The food was great; loved the music; the experience made me feel as though I had stepped back into a real 50's diner! It's way worth your time to give it a try!
