The fish and hushpuppies were really tasty. The service was pretty quick. We also enjoyed the frog legs. It was my first time having them. And, of course, we had to have fried oysters. We'll be back!
Fried whole catfish was hot & crispy on the outside & hot & flaky on the inside. Cole slaw was deliciously fresh also. Server was super sweet & attentive!
Stogner’s Fish Camp is mediocre at best. I appreciate the small town atmosphere, but there was many aspects about this place that could use improvement. Restaurants are to eat at, and compared to other seafood houses, the fried catfish (on the limited menu) was too greasy and fried in thick lumps rather than thinner for a crisp touch. The only way the price would have been justified is if it was a buffet, but not for the portion I received. Fries occupied the vast majority of the plate. The interior decoration is lacking as well, as I would expect a seafood house to incorporate more ocean decorations, but I guess if someone goes there as a family tradition then they wouldn’t be hard to please.
Overall an enjoyable meal. Fish, slaw, and hush puppies were great. My friend had fried shrimp. Tasty, but way salty!! The service was slow, and it took much longer than it should have to get our meal. Nothing to munch on while we waited!!
