We went to a meeting of a fairly large group of men and women. Anchuca was decorated with a beautiful Christmas tree with all the trimmings of the season. The food, service and beverages were excellent.

A very nice old hotel with a lot of history. The staff is great. The owners are a wonderful young couple.

Sunday brunch. Very slow service. Good atmosphere. Apparently a unexpected large group showed up just before us. Food was good when we got it

We absolutely loved our stay at Anchuca! We stayed in one of the carriage house rooms. The environment was just what you would expect in an upscale antebellum bed and breakfast. It felt like we had stepped back into the 1800s. We enjoyed both breakfast and dinner there. Breakfast was a delicious variety of breakfast items served on one plate and was more than we could eat. Dinner was very elegant and classy. The staff were incredibly helpful and attentive. We will definitely be back.

We stopped and ate here on a Saturday night pause in Vicksburg on our roadtrip. I called to see if Anchuca could seat the four of us, and they could.
This is a bed and breakfast in a historic inn set in the historic section of central Vickburg.
It was a short drive from the Best Western where we had to stay because we were traveling with a dog. If we'd been able to book at the Anchuca, I would have now that I've seen it because it is a very charming property, with very sweet people working there.
Anyway: their food is delicious. It really is.
The seafood gumbo is one of the best I've ever had, and we go to New Orleans every few years or so just to get our fill of favorites like Mr. B's Bistro and Atchafalaya. Their paneed catfish with creole sauce was amazing. Their shrimp and grits was very good. My husband liked his beef filet but I figured that is something you can get anywhere, so... One of us ordered the chicken piccatta which was fine, but my family recipe is a better one. I bet the pork chop is great. Good rolls.
Meh wine list. It is your mega producer Kendall Jackson type stuff, which does do the job.
Even though the Anchuca is charming, my heart sank at first as we came in and were seated because the only other party there at that early dinner hour were disrespectful of the niceness of the place enough to be wearing clothes even McD's would give them the stink eye for (leggings with plumber peek-a-boo situations), and had kids who were popping up and down in their seats with some whining even though they were old enough to hold it down with more style. But that was really no biggie, southern hospitality means you keep it polite and make guests comfortable.
And despite the disrespect of the other diners, Anchuca is actually special. Their chef is making very delicious, high quality food worthy of a special occasion.
I'd be happy to dine there again, and the next time I would get a bowl instead of a cup of that seafood gumbo!
