Lil' Black River Cafe

My friend and I went to the Li`l Black River Cafe in Grandin, Missouri, last night for the prime rib, sorry to report the prime rib and gravy was cold and tastless, the other entrees were of small portions and also cold. I ask to have my food warmed up in a microwave and was informed that the cook didnot believe in using microwave`s, OK, I see "so why send out cold food"!

Our waitress was busy with another table in another room and we hardly saw her, the rest of the wait staff was helpfull though, when asked.
We had a considerable wait time from when the salad was served and main meal arrived, so was dissapointed that the food was cold.

This was our second visit in the last two months, the first time we had the steak, both time`s the food was subpar.
Having worked in the food and beverage industry I know the importance of timing the food as to be served hot. If the server was busy as ours was, may I suggest having a dictated expeditor to take the food out immediately so as to not allow the meal to set in the kitchen and get cold.

I would also suggest that if there is a problem like the food being sent back during the meal that a manager address these issue`s with the table and not leave these problems to their over worked server`s, who may have no control over these issue`s!

Thank you all for your time! I am sorry for the poor review, it seems from previous reviews that in the years past this had been a excellent restaurant. It`s still not too late to make changes and regain your past glory!

Disappointed Birthday dinner.....salads came after entry's, was told appetizer was unavailable after that. Had seafood spaghetti don't think there was any crab in it. My husband had prime rib and enjoyed it. We drove an hour to eat here and I was disappointed.

The food is amazing. The service is good too. Alan and Ben are awesome cooks

Came here for breakfast some visiting family members. Excellent french toast and bacon. Brother and sister-in-law had biscuits and gravy and took it home. Friendly people, nice setting and incredibly good prices. Awesome place.

I've eaten at Little Black River Cafe many times since I first discovered it in 2017. I add salt and pepper on most everything but I have never added it to ANYTHING I've eat there. Allen seasons the food perfectly. The made fresh daily bread and sweet rolls are to die for

THE BEST FOOD I HAVE EVER PUT IN MY MOUTH! Everything was made fresh and was amazing. I can't wait to go back!
