El Potro Mexican

Went for lunch and amazed by the portion sizes. Had the steak fajitas with homemade tortillas made in house. The birria beans were great too. Filled up too much on chips and questions dip before my meal, but had plenty of food to box up for home. My husband had fried beef taco & beef enchilada with rice & refried beans and was very pleased. We are already planning a return trip soon.

We were seated right away. They do offer a lunch menu, but we chose to order from the main menu.
While the free cheese dip is nice, it lacked flavor. Also, if you prefer spicier salsa, ask for the salsa Verde.
Atmosphere was country western which was a bit unusual for a Mexican restaurant...unless is tex Mex (that's why Atmosphere is 3 stars)
Server was quick to refill drinks without us having to ask. Very attentive.
Food was decent enough. I prefer other Mexican restaurants in the area.
The prickly pear margarita is a must! We shared the 22 Oz.

I have been here twice so far and have had great service both times. The salsa has a nice flavor and you can request hot if you need to spice it up a bit. Both visits included a free small queso dip. The food has been great both times with large portions.

We have been to the one in Lee's Summit so we knew the food would be good. The service was also good and being brand new the place is spotless. I dinged them one star because it seems like they were having some growing pains. For example we were told they don't take reservations when we called, but we were able to make one via Google. Also the waiter didn't seem to know the drink specials and acted as if the bar was poorly stocked. In all fairness I will have to go back soon to see if they improve with some time.
