Char Steakhouse and Oyster Bar

I've been to a lot of steak restaurants all over the country. Some of the finest in Chicago. I was pretty down on restaurant steak until I ate at Char. We had the Delmonico and it was cooked to perfection. They oysters were fresh and delicious and the service was outstanding!!! The prices are a bit high for what you get, but this is a top notch restaurant in Springfield, Mo with a great atmosphere!

My family and I came here last night. We did not have reservations and were greeted by the lovely hostess immediately. She escorted us to the lounge side which was a little more laid back. Although technically the bar side, the ambiance was just as fabulous as the dining room. We had Hannah as our server and she was AMAZING. She was super knowledgeable on wine and was able to help my husband pick the perfect one to pair with his steak. I had the medallions with blue cheese on top- which were perfectly cooked along with the jalapeño cheddar mashed potato’s. The candied bacon on top was the absolute perfect combination of salty and sweet. My husband had the wagyu. He stated many times that it was one of the best cooked steaks he had ever had. If your wanting the perfect steak dinner along with a great experience Char is THE PLACE TO GO. overall my family and I were so pleased with the service we received along with the delicious meal.

So. Been to their other steakhouse in Springfield (downtown). Equally as good. They do a nice job with steaks, have fantastic wines (try their Spanish reds.... surprising, really) and aren't afraid to season their sides and apps. Very appealing and fair pricing.... plan to spend 75$ plus to really enjoy. Nice to keep money in town and avoid the chains, too.

Char was a last minute adventure as they had open reservations on a Saturday night. Initially, I was a little shy about going as most everywhere else was booked, but the reviews were strong. My biggest regret was not taking any pictures. Literally everything was packed with flavor. I will say the steak was good, but forgettable. The french onion soup and wedge salad were entrées by themselves! The shrimp scampi add on we did as an appetizer and they were phenomenal! By far one of the top restaurants in the area! The atmosphere is very warm and inviting. This is definitely one not to miss!

Our experience was amazing! While looking at the menu outside waiting for our reservation time, an employee beckoned us inside and gave us meatballs on the house! Service was great and the servers were incredibly polite and made us feel comfortable. The atmosphere was so warm and glowy, no thanks to Sinatra of course! I got the Chilean Seabass with mushroom risotto, asparagus, pecans, and something caramelized but I can't quite remember what it was! Overall, it was probably one of if not the best meal I have ever eaten, hands down! Everything was a little pricey, but that's to be expected with such great food! We will definitely be back again! 10/10 IGN
