For a great time with family and friends in the Mound City, MO area, Toad Hollar Bar and Grill is the place to be! Delicious food and drinks served by a caring and knowledgeable staff, and live music regularly! You won't regret your time spent there!
Waitress was kind of unfriendly. I was there mid afternoon, and there were only 2 others in there, and they were obviously regulars. They weren't very friendly either. I have visited a lot of small towns in my driving career and have found people to be very friendly if not inquisitive towards me. I could tell that I didn't quite fit the mold of their normal customers. I got the hot tenderloin, which I assumed was served on bread. It wasn't. It was just a breaded tenderloin with mashed potatoes and gravy. No bread under it and no sides came with it. I will say that what was there was pretty good, a little lacking overall compared to what I have had in the past from other places.
We found Toad Hollar after a visit to Loass Bluffs, and it will be a tradition! The food for breakfast was excellent! The hash browns in particular were amazing and completely unique. Almost like shaved potato strings.
The biscuits and gravy were excellent with loads of sausage!
We also tried the Christmas Lasagna which was tasty as well.
Stopped here on the way to Kansas City. It is a little bit off the interstate, but maps was able to get us there. I pre-ordered pork tenderloins and fries. Fries were excellent! The pork tenderloin was very good too, but it was very thick. With the thick bun it was a lot to eat. Would go back.
