Big R's Bar-B-Q

The pie is literally the best we've ever eaten. I had mine brought out before the food. I was so full I couldn't eat my actual food. Which the pie was a huge piece, and the serving size for our actual meal was big too. The drinks were served in big mason jars. Our server was great as well.

Good barbecue in downtown Joplin! They are known for their pies, but they're kinda pricey. Ribs are excellent! The brisket tastes very good but they only give you two slices. The serving was a little skimpy I thought. If you are hungry, better get the Suzie qs
cause none of the other sides will fill you up. Hot rolls with apple butter are delicious!

The first time I went to Big R's was in 2008 and was not impressed as they were not a smoke free establishment at the time and it was hard to enjoy my meal while inhaling everyone's cigarette smoke. I went back a month ago due to a recommendation from a co worker to try the burnt ends sandwich. I went in on a Saturday and put in a pick up order and was so happy to see the place smoke free. The interior is well designed and makes for a memorable atmosphere. While waiting for my Burnt Ends sandwich, I noticed the pies in the cooler and could not believe how huge they were! I always hear people around town talk about the pies from Big R's and will need to order one up when I decide to do a cheat day! So my Burnt ends sandwich was good. The flavor was spot on as far as how it was smoked. The Burnt ends were a little drier than what I prefer, and may need to go back and try it again. Sometimes you get a batch that isn't as juicy as another. I would definitely go back and this is a must try for BBQ in the Joplin area.

Everything about this place was great!! Service was amazing, and the food was nothing short of phenomenal!
Got burnt ends and the special sausage as the side and both were great, then the rolls with the apple butter was to die for! To top it off, got the pecan pie, with a twist, and you sure won't have to twist my wrist to get another slice of that big ole pie!

This place has a homey atmosphere is. Great place for a date or to take the family.. the Americana decor is a nice touch. As for the food you can tell that use high quality meat. Really good BBQ done Right the ribs were awesome. And the prices are very reasonable
