Great food, good prices. We had chicken enchiladas with white sauce, rice and beans,, a large grilled shrimp and chicken burrito with fajita vegetables, chips and salsa. The rice was fantastic, the enchiladas and beans were pretty good. Then burrito was also good. It has an almost chili type seasoning.
Great food!
Excellent food and service.
Took my mom out to eat here for dinner last week. It took a moment for the staff to come up front and get us seated, however, we were having dinner at an unconventional hour, so it’s understandable.
First impression, clean staff, nice dining area, very open. TVs were not loud. The artwork was beautiful, particularly the metal stencil bull, under which we sat.
The drinks were fresh and not acrid with carbohydrates, as one might sometimes experience. They keep their stock up.
Gotta love Mexican/Hispanic restaurants that give you bottomless chips and salsa while you await your main entree! Also, one of the only restaurants I have ever eaten at that actually makes a very hot salsa. I can handle ghost peppers etc and I was impressed with their hot salsa.
The pricing was amazing for the exhaustive amount of food! I say exhaustive because you will actually get tired, if not stuffed, by trying to finish the plate! But it’s worth every lift to the mouth! Excellent flavoring, true to the dish names, very “down south” home-cooked meals, perfect temperature, and great balance of the ingredients to even out the taste palate.
It wasn’t overly packed at all. In fact, only two small parties came in as my mother and I were finishing up our meal. Don’t worry about the waitstaff, if you can’t speak Spanish, they speak English perfectly well, so put your inhibitions aside, and give them a chance! It’s worth it! They do serve alcohol when permitted by law, and they have a separate bar from the dining area.
Front lobby has a showcase and nice seating area for those waiting for an in or otherwise waiting for their party to come out. Restrooms and general area very tidy.
Of all the Latino/Hispanic restaurants I have eaten at, this one is probably, arguably, my favorite one. So authentic. Friendly.
I’m a bit curious why it’s called Palenque. This was an ancient Mayan temple, “the fortified place”, as the Spanish referred to it. Perhaps they have heritage linked to such. But it’s beautiful, and it is very unique. It’s quite fitting for a restaurant that stands out so well!
Great service!! No wait & great food
