Stopped in here for a brew and some dinner after a long day's drive. What a treat! The space is fun and evocative without being kitschy - lots of well-polished wood and an expansive bar. The beer - a fine IPA - was delicious. But the food... that was extraordinary! I had a catfish dinner that was truly outstanding - fish done to perfection and amazingly crispy fries. My wife had a taco trio and couldn't decide if she liked the pork better than the cauliflower or... maybe the chicken!
So it was OK, but not great. The beer selection was fun, and I enjoyed trying the Scotch ale. The Twain's Cuban was OK, but needed something to balance the salty/oily, but did not have it. The portobella fries were OK, but not great ... most of all, the problem was that it was served with three very mild sauces. Should have one that is mild, one that is spicy, and one that is strong and cheesy. So overall OK, but just not quite all there.
We went with family, and it is definitely a popular spot. There is absolutely a wait so don't go super hungry. However, I feel you are going for the experience so we were fine with that. The food was good, not over-priced, and service was good. No complaints!
The burger was good… but I was charged extra for the fried onion ring I received… $0.75 for a single onion ring.. annoying. The menu is VERY SMALL.
Can't rate it five stars only because I've only ever been to the bar. But the beer is good, they're always attentive and generally knowledgeable about their beer.
- follow-up, changed to five stars. Been many times always fantastic
