Very good food. I can't decide which I liked more.... the giant cinnamon roll with icing oozing out as we cut into it, or the pancakes with pulled pork. Everything was delicious.
Best place for breakfast! Inexpensive and huge portions. Great staff. Go here if you are within 50 miles! We will be back.
Awesome food. Reasonable prices. The cornbeef hash was homemade, definitely not out of a can. Chunks of potatoes and slices of corn beef! Great coffee and B&G as well. Staff was friendly and efficient.
UPDATE 8/29/19: The owner took the time to respond quickly and thoroughly so I am upping my star ranking from a 2 to a 4. Anyone can have a bad day, and obviously the owner cares a great deal about their service and food quality.... which means a lot to me.
ORIGINAL POST 8/2019:
Such a cute place and terrific service, but lousy food!
I was shocked since other reviews for this place was so good. Maybe they had a bad cook that day?? Gravy was flavorless, cold and still had hunks of flour in it that hadn’t been mixed in. Chicken Fried Steak was tough and seasonless. Biscuit was cold. Potatoes were severely undercooked. My husband’s ham off the bone was shaved and again poor quality.
If they were having a bad day, it was a really really bad day.
The only bright spot was our very friendly waitress. I didn’t have the heart to tell her how lousy it all was because she was trying so hard.
This is a place to visit again and again! The food was delicious and the decor was charming, and despite the crowd, everything was clean and bright. Our server was terrific! Don't be in a hurry--they make everything when you order it; the quality is definitely worth the wait. One of these days, we need to go back and try to eat one of those ENORMOUS cinnamon rolls--we'll bring friends for that. So... If you give a cluck about breakfast (or lunch), don't fly the coop until you hit the Rusty Rooster Cafe!
