My wife and I just went to dinner there with another couple this past Saturday. It was on my list of places to try and I was excited to go. We first went to the bar and had a couple of drinks. They have all of your typical St. Louis craft beers that I think every bar and restaurant in St. Louis is now required to have these days. It's not a bad thing, but would it kill these places to put at least one domestic beer on draft. Sometimes, I would like a Miller Lite on draft...does that make me a criminal?, but I digress. They did have Busch beer in a can..nice. I did have a few of those. We sat down for dinner and had a really pleasant waitress give us the low down on the family and how everything is prepared. It was very impressive how many things were made from scratch. We stated as an appetizer with the Bacon Fat Fries...uhmmm...delicious. It was definitely a hit at the table. We then ordered entrees. My wife and I split the Duck Fried Rice, which was a duck quarter over fried rice which had more duck and I think ham. It also had a bit of a spicy sauce that I really liked, but my wife thought was a little overpowering. But what does she know, she ordered a duck dish and only ate the rice and not the duck. Come on. The duck was fantastic, it had tons of flavor. I also ordered as a side, the deviled egg potato salad...it was good. I wish the potato was cut a bit smaller, but that's just personal preference. We also had the artichoke dip. That did not go over as well. Not sure why, I thought it was ok, the rest of the table did not agree. Overall, I think the table would agree that the food was really good and the service was top-notch. We all had a really nice dining experience and agreed we would definitely go back again. I would love to try their burger next time. I would highly recommend this place if you are looking for more of an upscale, yet casual dining experience that adds a little bit of flair to everyday foods.
My Mom and I came here for brunch on Sunday and was pleased to learn they have all day happy hour (on Sunday)! She had the spinach artichoke dip, which had an interestingly lemon zest to it, and I had both the chili pork and pork belly tacos, which were AMAZING. Cool atmosphere with a solid line-up craft beers (although not many basics) and a great location in the Maplewood area.
The food and service was GREAT. This was our first visit. We will be back! Thank you for a great experience.
We had the DLT with fries and Blue Cheese burger with BBQ chips during Saturday brunch. Delicious!!!! Oh, and don't forget bottomless mimosas for $15!
Julia served our group of 14 with kindness, ease, and excellence. The food was deliciousness and the setting trendy. We really enjoyed our time, and agreed that Julia was one of the best servers we've had!
This place does a Western cooked duck very well. The meat is so tender and the flavors in each dish go very well together. My cousin and I loved the uniqueness added to each dish that was both comforting and tasty! A must have is the risotto and DLT. (don't order the side salad, it's pretty small and sad for $3)
