I have visited several places in the world and so far I can guarantee the best sandwich of ground meat balls and a dry meat chorizo would say excellent pairing, I have already visited several times this place has a cozy and familiar atmosphere. #some of my favorite Italian deli STL
Best Ready-to-Bake Pizza in St. Louis. Handmade ingredients. Just wonderful.
this place was amazing! the welcoming and friendly staff, the food quality... we were surprised how small our bill was. please give it a try for lunch some time.
Great great great sandwiches a must if fizzling the Hill get there early they close at 3:30
I'm no Oprah, but I do like bread. My wife, native St. Louisan, on the other hand, has had to swear off gluten due to its rude effects on her health. Darn gluten!! For that reason, after several years of marriage, this native KC fellow had never been to the famed "The Hill" for it's myriad gluten-laden dishes and for doubt that it would have GF options.
"The Hill" is the famed location for all of St Louis's Italian cuisine. Cuisine which I had been told made KC's Italian food look like the minor leagues.
In my head, "The Hill" had long been a sleek enclave of white tablecloth pasta ristorantes. While I do enjoy a nice plate of pasta al funghi, Italian deli sandwiches are more of "miei polli". Eovaldi's Deli was just that, except more pork products and less polli.
I had the Eovaldi special, 6 inch. It was layers of mortadella, salami, roast beef, and ham with tangy perperoncinis and pepper cheese. Even at 6 inches this sandwich was about as much as my fist-sized stomach could handle.
A buddy who was with me got The Daddy, Eovaldi's version of the meatball grinder. He generously traded half his sandwich for half of mine. I must say, as my dad used to say, he "ordered right." That bad boy was nuts.
Long story short, eat at Eovaldi's. And if you have to choose between The Special and The Daddy, get The Daddy.
P.S.the homemade chips are also excellent
