I've been going to this place for decades. One of the first microbreweries in St. Louis, this place had established itself as a giant in the local beer market. The beer itself is good and they've been perfecting beers for a while now. The food menu seems to always be changing. Sometimes the food is good, greasy pub fare other times it is just okay. I guess it depends upon the chef at the time. Go for the beer and the atmosphere. Some nights they have music which is a nice touch. Nice place to visit if you are from out of town and are in the Midtown area.
Healthy pecan, Apple and cranberry salad with a cold white lager! Soon to be so close to the STL Soccer Stadium. Best bartender, Paul.
Didn't get to try the food, but the beer selection is a decent array of Schlafly. The atmosphere is very nice...rustic with modern flare. Would definitely come back and hopefully check out some grub.
We had the pleasure of attending the oyster and stout festival from out of town. The stout selection was amazing and the service and coordination for this even was outstanding. Hope to attend again!
Beautiful historic building, great beer variety and a nice menu to boot. On the night we were there it felt like we were in a friend's parents basement and the dad was not particularly happy we were there. However, it was a Tuesday night and the varsity crew more tend to work a bit more close to the weekend. Definitely worth the visit anyway. Lots of swag available for those looking for some St. Louis brewery shirts, etc. You can also buy cans/growlers in the taphouse lounge.
