Anima by EDO

It was an interesting experience at Anima. We had a party of 5 and ordered about 10 different dishes to share among us. When we ordered, we said “we would like the croquetas, potatoes, beef cheeks, etc”. Our first appetizer arrived and the staff brought 2. When we told them we only ordered 1, the waiter said that since most of the tapas only come in fours he took the liberty to order 2 of everything. I’ve never experienced this from a restaurant before where the waiter assumes to double an order. We were a bit dumbfounded and requested that our orders be changed to 1 of each, as we intended. Having 20 dishes would’ve turned our $400 bill to an $800 bill. Overall the waiter was nice, but beware that you may need to specify the number of dishes you’re ordering. Dishes and drinks were tasty. Our favorites were the gnocchi and risotto.

We decided to try this place out and did enjoy it however felt as if there is room for improvement. We opted for the tasting menu at $70 per person which we thought was a good deal but some of the portions were insanely small. The two tiny pieces of toast with a giant scoop of dip was interesting and discouraging for what was to come. As the course continued the portions did get larger but we would most likely not opt in for that again.

There was also a little too much "up-selling" during our experience. Trying to continuously add things to our order was a little annoying, if there was something we wanted we would most definitely mention it after having looked at the menu. The $18 egg was good, but $18 for a regular sized egg was disappointing as well.

Lastly we felt as if there was too many people on the floor. Too many people watching us all eat waiting for our food to be done to clean our plates. Literally standing next to us watching the entire floor just felt awkward and lacked privacy for conversation.

Overall for $277, with tip, we did not taste or experience that value whatsoever. We have spent less at fancier places on the strip and would most likely just come back to grab a drink during their happy hour.

We decided on the tasting menu and upgraded to the caviar items.
From the moment you walk in the energy and decor is fantastic.
The attentiveness to details is unique.
The dishes are bright, delicious and fresh.
I won’t attempt to describe the food. It has to be tasted. This experience is incomparable to any other local restaurants. The creativeness with ingredients noteworthy.
The boldness of ingredients and textures of foods is an experience one must try.
They have a nice wine selection with an emphasis on Spanish and Italian wines reasonably priced. We selected a 2014 Tempranillo.
We have gone to EDO the parent restaurant many times and this was our first time at Anima. My wife made reservations for Valentine’s Day.
We can’t wait to go back.

Fantastic food and amazing service with stunning ambiance! Every item we ordered was absolutely delicious. The short ribs in particular are perfection! If you enjoy adult beverages, their gin cocktails and take on Moscow mules was refreshing. I highly recommend the grapefruit and rose mule. The staff was extremely friendly, attentive, and highly knowledgable. They answered all our questions with ease and were very helpful in curating a wonderful experience. I will certainly be returning!

This place is amazing! They just opened and it already feels like they have everything figured out. Service was incredible. They decorated the restaurant beautifully. And then the food was outstanding. All of their pasta is made in house and they did a great job of adding some of the best original EDO Tapas classics to open Anima! Bikini, Italian version of croquettes, and the flat iron steak were my favorites. This place is a wonderful addition to the Las Vegas community!
