Home Plate Grill and Bar

This is a nice little place on the south side of town that is worth a visit. I went with my mother. The place is split in half, with the bar/smoking section separated from the nonsmoking area, where we sat. The nonsmoking area is much like a very tiny restaurant with a big television on one wall, and it was virtually empty and oh so quiet! My mother had the bacon cheeseburger, and I had the Philly cheesesteak. I'm keto, so when I asked our server, Sydney, if I could get the sandwich on lettuce instead of a bun and a vegetable instead of fries, she went straight away to ask the chef. She came back and said that I could get broccoli instead of fries and the cheesesteak guts in between big lettuce leaves, which was perfect. It was a great cheesesteak, if not traditional because they used provolone instead of Cheese Wiz (thank goodness), and there was no extra charge for my substitutions, which I mightily appreciated. The bacon cheeseburger was very good (my mom gave be a bit of the guts of it), and Mom also said that it was some of the best cole slaw she'd ever had. But the best part about all of it? It was great food for a great price! Plus, you can get 2-for-1 deals in coupon books here. This was a steal, I'm telling you. Even if you have to travel across town, you have to go here. Once you do, like me, you'll want to come back again and again. Thanks to Sydney and the chef for a great meal!

This has become one of our favorite pubs! Friendly atmosphere, great service, and the food is about two steps better than most pubs. Their pizza is better than most pizzerias, and everything else we've tried has been really good too.
