This is an outstanding restaurant. We visited smith and river on 17th of Feb as part of our valentines day. We dressed up and we just wanted to have a special night. The food was outstanding. I had the lamb and she had the salmon. Food was perfect the service was great. Management and staff made us feel special. For a nice night out we spent $75. Pretty good considering taco bell for 2 people now runs you $30. We will definitely be returning the swordfish is calling my name

This place is killer. The two waiters Tom and Kit were fantastic. The food was amazing. Our favorite was the wonton tuna. I wasn't expecting the style and taste. It was a wonton shell fried in a taco shape with fresh seared raw tuna covered with kimchi. It's a must get. The crab cakes were ok. They came with a Cajun Remoulade sauce that was good. But nothing like the wonton tuna. The Caesar salad had the perfect amount of dressing but the dressing was very strong on the anchovy side. Which I enjoyed but my fiance did not. I think I would have gone with the beat salad instead. I've heard great things about it. The rigatoni was good but I felt like I could have easily cooked the dish at home. Nothing extremely special. The swordfish on the other hand was very very good. I loved the array of vegetables and the truffle puree. It had a fresh lemon flavor to it that was very fresh and light but yet feeling. The winner of tonight's meal was The braised lamb shank. Pharaoh risotto was creamy and the red wine demi glaze was a delicious hit. Everyone had to have a bite. Felt like it was a must get since we're in Nevada and Nevada is known for its lamb. Overall, the experience was very nice. The manager ryan stopped by our table to ask how our experience was. Which I appreciate and recommend all restaurants to do. I will definitely recommend this place. I think it is a staple to our community. Thank you for the great experience Smith River. Till next time.

We have been to Smith & River on several occasions and it has quickly become one of our favorite go-to restaurants in Reno. The food is, not kidding, ALWAYS delicious and perfectly prepared. Highly recommend the crab cakes as well as the flank steak, although you really can't go wrong with anything on the menu. The service is incredible. Stan has been our waiter a few times now and is always so kind and attentive. This place never disappoints. Highly recommend!

Matt our server was great! On the spot! Made all of us feel special! Thanked us for our manners! Teen boys included! Help us celebrate our milestones as a family with an extra amazing dessert! All food and desserts were excellent! I even got a wet towel for my hands from the manager after my yummy ciopinno! We had a group of 8 and enjoyed the “chefs table”. Brought all our meals out together!

My family and I had a top-notch experience at Smith & River. We were able to easily make reservations a few days before via the website for a party of 4. Definitely recommend the outdoor seating area when the weather is nice since you can see the Truckee River. I started off with a Mount Rose cocktail customized with tequila instead of vodka. SO GOOD! For apps, I split a caesar salad (one of the best caesar's I have ever had for the record) and enjoyed some free brown bread which beats Cheesecake Factory's brown bread. The entree was of the star of the show - the flat iron steak with arugula + shoestring fries. The steak was perfectly cooked to a medium + and the side was so unique yet bursting with truffle flavor. The sauce on the steak tied everything together. The service was also quick and so friendly. This may be the best restaurant I have tried in Reno!!
