Markey's Lobster Pool

Legendary lobster! Popular seafood destination for the NH and northern MA Beach crowd. Great food and big portions combine with good prices and occasional specials for even better prices on fresh, Maine lobster. As an added bonus, they crack the shells for you, so all you have to do is pull out the delicious meat, dip in butter and enjoy.

Make sure you ask for hard shelled lobster or they will give you soft shelled. The hard shell is packed full of meat. The soft shell isn't and I find the lobster in the claws mushy. Also the butter is not real. It's reconstituted butter, which tastes like watered down butter. I was going to see if they had any butter packets for bread and ask them to melt it for me but I ended up taking it back to our room and melted my own butter.

Come on!! This place is a tradition that’s part of many families in the New England area. They always have the freshest seafood and friendly staff. This is not a restaurant with a lot of frills. Good food, decent prices and and interesting back deck where you can watch the tide coming in and out and an occasional striper jumping out of the water while you eat great seafood.

Visited Markey's last Saturday when the temperature was over 100 degrees. Unfortunately due to the weather and the heat my experience wasn't the best. We sat outside to try to feel the breeze, but of course it was so hot that there was no breeze. We went back inside and we didn't feel the air conditioning. Not sure if they had any. We were sweating like crazy, so we ended up leaving and couldn't finished our food. Whatever I got to tried was really good. I will definitely give it another try on a cooler day. I think that we chose the wrong day to visit.

Local here... been coming here for decades... still great. Always fresh seafood... quick and casual. What most people don't know is that they make a GREAT cheeseburger!
