Lafayette Place Food Court

This is one of the first places we visited back in the day when we started coming to visit the White Mountains. You get tired and hungry more often than usual when you are traveling, hiking, and exploring. The Flume building itself is beautiful and full of fascinating historical items that put you in the mood to appreciate the terrain. But hunger calls and so you find yourself at this modest cafe. I remember feeling so happy to see Starbucks coffee (not sure if they still serve that brand). My kids wanted all the sweets. Husband downed a burger. We were relieved and grateful to have something to eat and drink, which we did before ever seeing the amazing trail here. It might not be a planned destination meal choice but it certainly feeds a lot of mountain goers who didn't realize how hungry they would be up in the woods. Nowadays I tend to pack a cooler. But I'd still be happy to visit this cafe when I'm at the Flume or a nearby trail head.
