Great food, and not a long wait for it
This restaurant took the place of The Gyro Spot. They did a bit of work inside but not much. Layout is still the same. They did a mural of the capital on the wall -- a nice local touch. Tile flooring is still the same, embellished in a style that reminded me of the greek restaurant a lot.
Service was prompt and friendly. Server had solid recommendations. The menu was VERY large. Lots of breakfast and lunch options, served all day until closing. I saw they had chicken pot pies you could take home and cook. Could be a good quick dinner option another time.
I had their version of a Reuben. The bread was very good -- baked onsite, I believe. Corned beef was a bit dry due to the cooking but also very good. They put the coleslaw on the sandwich instead of sauerkraut. It was good but lacked the "zing" I like in my Reubens. It also seemed to lack the normal amount of salt I expect in a Reuben. I ordered fries with the sandwich. What came seemed like a small amount to me for the charge, but my waistline isn't complaining. Overall, I wasn't displeased with the food, but it wasn't anything special either. My husband ordered one of the breakfast plates. Basic eggs, hashbrowns, bacon, sausage, and pancakes. They were about what you would expect for diner-esque food. The bacon did seem extra good, but that could just be because I really like bacon.
My biggest complaint was that the food took FOREVER to come out. I went on my lunch break from work (arrived after the rush at 1pm) and it still took 45 minutes to receive our food. For a location that only does breakfast and lunch, they're hurting a good group of business customers during the week.
I am not familiar with their other location in Concord, so I didn't know what to expect of this restaurant. However, I had hoped that a restaurant in downtown Concord would have invested a bit more into the decor and had a bit more flair (both with the food and decor).
But if you have some time to kill and are looking for some basic comfort-food cooking with a lot of menu options that aren't too expensive, this could be a good spot for you.
Excellent food and a great location!
