Have been to this applebee’s multiple times and have had very good experience. Some menu options are better than others but there’s something on the menu for everybody to enjoy. I have had one server there a few times and she was great, i cannot remember her name but she excels at her job. The other day my boyfriend and I were in for lunch. The server we had was named Jess. She came over in a fair amount of time and seemed to be a very bland person. Received our drinks and put in our orders with no problem. Food took a bit long for 2 pm on a Sunday afternoon but as a restaurant employee myself I was not worried. Our food finally comes out and we have to ask her for silverware after she is out of sight for a few minutes. The chicken parm my boyfriend had didn’t have very much sauce on it at all. Our server was nowhere to be found for the rest of our meal, never came by to check and make sure everything was okay or to see if we needed anything else. We finish eating and can see her standing around at the bar or by the door doing nothing while we’re sitting there looking around for her waiting for our check, I even made eye contact with her and she still didn’t come by. We had a discount card and it took forever for her to get the discount applied and then even longer for her to come grab our card, normally we would pay on the tablet at the table but our tablet displayed the order for the table next to us. When she came to grab our payment she didn’t seem amused that she had to be the one to run the card. She then walked by us multiple times with our receipt in her apron before bringing back the card and the receipt. As a server myself I understand part of the problems we had with our service, I don’t expect snappy service as I know that servers get busy, but when there’s 5 tables and 3 servers working I would expect to at least get some silverware with my meal, or my check dropped back off one of the times she walked by with it. I give this place 3 stars because I enjoy the food here and I have had some good experiences here, but I have also had bad experiences like the one described.
I got my beer almost 7 minutes after I sat down. There were plenty of waitstaff and it was 3 in the afternoon . I was also very thirsty . The chicken fingers were unusually crunchy and heavy with a bread coating previously frozen. The Onion rings I ordered were also clearly previously frozen but tasted like it as well. I thought it was a little overpriced and lacking soul. Maybe I expected too much?
The service was quick and friendly. The food was hot and well presented. I was a little surprised that the dish did not pack the flavor punch that I was hoping for. It was just ok, but not quite what I expected. Not memorable enough to remember what I ate.
It's a very nice place for family and social events, it's clean. Portion sizes are fairly good. The variety is good for those of us who don't know what they want. Garlic filled mashed potatoes... yummy !
