Fat Dog Kitchen

One of my favorite local breakfast spots. Great food prepared with creative flair. Good portions. Warm, friendly customer service. The only drawback is the low seating capacity which can back up the wait at the door. Get there early! Note: I am upgrading my review from 4 stars to 5 stars because the food is so consistently tasty, creative, and perfectly presented. It isn't fair to ding FDK for being in a small space and for being super popular.

Great selection of unique food. The Captain's Toast is battered in Captain's Crunch and the thick bread is perfect.
The corned beef hash was highly recommended by others at the bar and it did not disappoint. It is heavy on the meat and the potatoes are soft and well-seasoned.
Getting seated was awkward because I wasn't sure what to do. BTW, it's seat yourself. They could do better about taking names and calling when there's a seat available.

I moved here recently for work, and decided to try out Fat Dog on the recommendation of a coworker. The staff are so accommodating and friendly, and made me feel very welcomed! The atmosphere is fun too, having small toys and figures as table buddies.
I tried the corned beef sammie and a piece of captain's French toast and seriously, it was SO delicious. It was exactly what I needed, & the kid in me was very happy.
Only thing to keep in mind is it's a smaller establishment so expect to wait a little bit during busy hours on the weekend.
I thoroughly enjoyed my experience here & definitely plan to come back soon to try as many food items as possible!

Their day after Thanksgiving sandwich is the best. I order it to go almost every time. I tell anyone I meet to check this place out! Best breakfast in Dover!!

Excellent little gem of a restaurant right off route 16 (route 4) in Dover NH. They are a from scratch kitchen that cures and smokes their own bacon and lox. Small restaurant with about 6 tables and some outside seating (dog friendly outside). Today I ordered one of their specials, a breakfast bowl, and it was incredible. Bacon jalapeno pineapple sausage with poached eggs, fresh corn salsa, pickled onions, home fries, black beans, crispy onions, aioli, cheese and more! It was excellent.
As I watched the others patrons breakfast orders go past me I knew I'd have to come back here to try everything they have on the menu!!!

Also, To get to the bathroom you have to walk through the kitchen and down a very steep flight of stairs making sure you don't hit your head on the ceiling. If you are unstable on your feet this would be very difficult to do. So definitely not handicapped friendly.
