East Japanese Restaurant

As recent residents to Bergen County, we have been going here a few times a month. First off, to not set expectations too high, you're not getting anywhere near "omakase" quality sushi, and there's probably just as good or better sit-in sushi locations in the area, but it is good sushi. Let's be real, most people are coming here for the novelty and efficiency of conveyor belt sushi. East for a longtime was the only one in the area that did 'kaiten' sushi. For a few years, there was Yo! Sushi in Garden State Plaza, but that didn't pan out so well, and when it was around, I still preferred East. It's perfect for time efficiency. You sit, grab the sushi you want, and they count the plates that are color coded to price. They have weekday specials. We often take advantage of Salmon Wednesdays, where most of there salmon pieces are half off.

We went there as a group. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating. The food was delicious, both from the conveyor belt and from the kitchen. It was amazingly inexpensive, too! It was the first time I had plum wine. It was sweet, but not overly so, and I enjoyed the plum itself, as well.

Usually easy to sit at the sushi bar. The chefs are accommodating of special requests and work quickly and efficiently. Table service is good and food is prepared well. Make sure to go early if you can to have the full selection of rolls available. Also recommend the chicken teriyaki appetizer if you’re looking for hot food. Well priced.

This is the only place I know that offers a formal Japanese conveyor belt sushi "kaiten sushi" in New Jersey. I am pretty satisfied with the sushi they offer. It's fresh and tasty. The price? It's fair to me because I think it's worthy of my bucks... Service is good and it's of high quality fresh fish. I am sure I'll come back for more.
