Yakitori 39

This is one of very few "proper" yakitori joints in NJ. If you need anything better or more authentic than this in NJ, you are out of luck. Go to NYC.

Great little place that serves a ton of different meat parts, seafoods and veggies on skewers. They also have other dishes not on skewers, such ramen and the Nagoya chicken wings (yum!). A great authentic place to sample different foods, but we found the price of alcohol there to be very steep, especially since the first pitcher of Asahi ($30) wasn't even filled up all the way! Highly recommend the roasted ginkgo nuts and making a reservation. It's a small place, so I don't recommend it for more than 4 people.

Great place to go for drinks and chicken. Each skewer is 3 dollars (most of the items), but that quickly adds up. If you are hungry, you will be ordering a lot if you just go for the skewers

Good selection, cozy atmosphere, but a little pricey than serve amount. Would like to recommend this place. I had chicken and shrimp both are awesome with drink!

Skewers are always amazing, highly recommend the chicken ones even if you're new to all of it. Throw in a bowl of rice or noodles and you're all set. Most of the other dishes are pretty good too. The hot pot sets are interesting and they have some nice seasonal stuff.
