Food is pretty good. Tried the curry chicken, stew, jerk chicken and pork and they worked out pretty well. I will say you may need to call ahead to order or you may end up waiting up to 30 minutes or more to get your food (may be just because of type of food- from a scratch). Good spot.
I was looking for takeout the other day, but didn’t feel like pizza or Chinese. A quick search yielded Jamrock, and I had to try it.
First things first, this place doesn’t have a sign you can see from the road, and they don’t have a printed menu. I was a little cautious at first. Would this be good? I tried their website to place an online order, but it didn’t work (owner: please consider making adjustments to this).
I decided just to go and order in person. The inside of the restaurant is nothing to write home about, and might be a little off putting at first, but so are the insides of the countless Chinese takeout places. There’s no paper menu, as it’s simply scribbled onto a white board on the wall.
Worries stopped as soon as I began to talk to the owner. Since it was my first time trying Jamaican food, I asked a couple questions. He was exceptionally kind and helpful, and gave me some samples to try while I waited.
Food is cooked to order, so it may take a a little longer to get, but it’s well worth the wait. I settled on the typical: Jerk Chicken. Had a surprising amount of spice, and came with a heaping portion of rice and and a side of your choice.
Next time you’re looking for takeout, step outside of your comfort zone and give Jamrock a try. You’ll be glad you did.
Food was excellent. Was authentic jamaican cuisine. I had bought a plate of oxtail stew and a plate of brown stew chicken. Both dishes were amazing! I especially enjoyed the oxtail stew! I usually end up driving all the way to Philly for goid jamaican food but this was so good and so close to where I had been staying near Glassboro, NJ. Please, please check them out. Prices are right and the portions are generous. The taste is also excellent!
I absolutely loved the food, customer service, and "family-oriented" atmosphere.
