Definitely decent. They lose some points for calling themselves a diner in Jersey without staying open 24 hours. The food wasn't stellar but it isn't bad either [except for the coffee, that was horrendous]. I definitely need to try more diner food staples on subsequent visits. Wait staff seemed really good, which is always a plus.
The décor is a little weird, but that's not why you go to a diner, is it. {My friend described it like they moved up to the 90s from the Versailles' 70s look... personally I miss that about the Versailles, but that's just me. They also tore out my favorite booth to move the register five whole feet closer to the door, and no I'm totally not bitter about that why do you ask?}
Excellent service, Great food, Ample parking, and spacious seating. We (my BFF and I) went and it was quite a few people already there. We thought we would have to wait for a table or booth but they seated us right away. The server came not long after being seated. The food came quickly and it was more than I thought I could eat but it was so good, I ate it all. Highly recommend.

First time here since the change. Looks great, good feel, friendly staff. Seems more room too. As soon as you walk in you feel comfortable. Also, the tables in the dining room are a little bigger I think. More comfortable space when your sitting at the table and more room for the food.
Always nice to see a traditional type diner reboot. The former Versailles Diner has now become the West Essex Diner, and they've done a great job!
Their menu is fairly diner typical, but there are more entree salads and a few more sandwiches, raps and Specialty items. They still have a small bar, which I have yet to try. Portions were good, food was nicely prepared, and the service was above-average. I look forward to going again!
