Delicious authentic Italian food, homemade pasta, the owner is from Italy and he is cooking in the kitchen with his family every night. Will certainly be back; great neighborhood as well with easy parking.
Cozy new trattoria in the heart of Walnut St at the Depot Square station. In an area overly saturated with "Italian American" fare the food is refreshingly authentic. Chefs and servers are from Sicily and offer an array of classic Italian dishes. The homade rigatoni amatriciana was perfectly "al dente," not overcooked, and with plenty of guanciale. The melanzane (eggplant) was delicate, minus the over-breading you get in other establishments. The maiale (roast pork) was juicy, perfectly cooked on the bone with a sweet and mouth watering pistacchio crust. Overall, an extremely satisfying meal; will definitely return!
Not ready yet. Bread with oil came complementary. The bread was fresh but had no flavor and seemed cheap. Definitely not real Italian bread. The oil had no flavor as well. I Had the salmon which was very good but the vegetables were undercooked and hard, at 28.50 as well. My GF got basic pasta which was overcooked with watery sauce at 18.50. No authenticity here, which was how it was advertised. The service was good but the place was less than half busy. The bulb in the booth we were at kept flickering occasionally at varying brightness, odd and distracting. Definitely had a diner vibe. Too many options nearby, we won't be back.
I cannot recommend this place highly enough. The food is amazing: excellent ingredients combined simply but with artistry. The Amatriciana tasted of guanciale in every bite and my wife’s seafood risotto was just perfect. The portions are generous and the prices are reasonable. The situation with alcohol and the bar (separate checks) is a little unusual but with food this good who cares? By far the best Italian food I’ve had in years. You won’t be sorry.
Very authentic Italian flavors and dishes, in a surpassingly intimate setting. Chef came out to check on us and get feedback. We’ll go back soon as this place is destined to become popular when words gets around
