One of my top places for delicious portuguese food. The service was friendly and observant.

Fantastic Portuguese food. Definitely the best and most authentic Portuguese food in the Ironbound. It is not on the main drag, Ferry Street, along with all of the other big restaurants, but the food is much better and the local Portuguese community will tell you that it is leaps and bounds better than more popular tourist restaurants like Iberia.

When my dad worked in Newark and his boss took him out one day and went to Tony DaCaneca, my father fell in love with this place. Last week we took my sisters-in-law and husband, and really good friends here. We enjoyed everything we ate! From the flaming sausage, to the mussels in red sauce, seafood paella, duck and so on. The sangria was great as well. The waiters were great answered all our questions, by the time we all finished we were the last people in the restaurant and they were cleaning up.

Stumbled on this place by accident. It’s tucked away on a backstreet. Parking lot across the street free for patrons. Very unassuming on the outside but once you walk in you can tel you are in a very upscale place. Looks like the interior has been redone recently, very swanky. Food is excellent Portuguese fare, I ordered a shell steak that was perfectly cooked and delicious and my friend got the suckling pig which he enjoyed immensely. Prices were very reasonable, food was excellent, service was top notch, highly recommend.
