    Picked up food to go from this spot because I had to catch a flight from EWR and I didn't want to eat airport food. I will be honest the prices are fantastic and the food is very good. The reason I gave it three stars is because I can't say when I may or may not come back. But, if I were in the area, I would certainly mention it as a good spot with good food and good prices. Empanadas are VERY good here.

    So as a preface the restaurant itself is tiny, cramped and not that interesting to be in. Very hole in the wall. However. The staff are all polite, the portions are great for the price. My last time there i got the pernil and it was just amazing. Definitely worth a go if u like Hispanic cuisine

    A local Newark friend took me to Mi Gente Cafe when we were in the area. I had the roasted chicken with a side of vegetables. It was a delicious big portion that I followed with a small rich and flavorful expresso. The empanadas I ordered to take home were tasty too. This small cute place definitely got me. I'm a new fan!!!
