Went here for brunch on a beautiful Sunday & was able to sit outside. It was pretty busy inside, but the waiter handled it with grace. Like it was a piece of cake so kudos to her. The food & mimosas were delicious. I will definitely be back to taste the lunch & dinner menu.

PROS
1. Smothered Fried Chicken Wings was Huge and Flavorful.
2. Smothered Pork Chops was Flavorful and Huge.
3. String Beans was Cooked Well.
4. Baked Mac n Cheese was Good.
5. Peppered Cabbage was Good.
6. Sweet Potatoes was Good and Not Overly Sweet. Healthy enough to ask for more! Maybe a new dessert item, a Warm Bed of Sweet Potatoes with a Big Scoop of Vanilla Bean Ice Cream on Tip with Cinnamon Honey drizzled on top! Dust it with some brown sugar and bam! Ha
8. Cajun Catfish Bites was SUPER Flavorful.
7. Cocktails are Good.
8. Nice Interior and Exterior. Love the restroom's floor with its black and white tiles.

CONS
1. Fried Calamari's portion was too small and it needed more flavor.

Every since I’ve discovered this place right across from my job, if I haven’t brought my lunch, this is the first place I call. I’m so delighted with the daily specials. I’ve had the crab cake sliders (I got them without bread) and the honey brussel sprouts. Today I’m ordering lamb chops with the brussel sprouts and collards. I know they will be delicious ? and it’s sooooo healthy! I forgot what else I’ve ordered but just know that it was very enjoyable.

The food here is AMAZINGLY GOOD!!! Everything I ordered was DELICIOUS!!! The shrimp and grits are all homemade noting instant or processed, real shrimp and a nice size!! The brussel sprouts with the honey glaze...OMG!! Eveything we ate was VERY GOOD!! I have absolutely no complaints about the food!! Our waitress was awesome...she addressed every need that we had..kept the drinks flowing and very attentive!! I give them 4 stars only because due to staff members that called out we had to wait extremely long for our food. But when it did arrive it was well worth the wait!! We will definitely be visiting this restaurant again!! Another great black owned restaurant!!! THANK YOU CHEF!!!! THANK YOU TO OUR WAITRESS!!! But Management you really need to step it up on hiring reliable staff...our fabulous chef cooked that AMAZING dinner on her own!! If you want to keep your staff you need to be more accountable for the lack of staff!

My friend asked me to drive her to Newark airport. I wanted to get an early start to Newark to avoid Labor Day weekend traffic. We looked for a restaurant close to the airport to pass the time.

I Googled and found the House of Soul. Oh and what a find! The have a bottomless mimosa brunch. The reasonable price was even more amazing. There was a DJ playing old school hip hop and R&B. They followed COVID-19 safety protocols. The staff all wore masks, they checked temperatures, and hand sanitizer was provided. We were greeted by the owners.

My friend and I decided to sit at the bar. The bartender welcomed us and got us started with a round of mimosas. I ordered Shrimp with Home Fries. The shrimp were seasoned perfectly. I asked for fried shrimp and the Chef accomodated with a smile. I love the food, drinks and ambience.

I will definitely return.... Even if I'm not taking a friend to the airport.
