McLoone's Boathouse

Huge, fun, pretty spot overlooking a lake and beautiful trees, very near to Seton Hall campus. Especially enjoyed their large, extensive outdoor decks and firepit. Food is typical pub, not memorable, but not terribly expensive. A great afternoon out.

We went here based on recommendation from my mother and my Aunt. While the ambiance is very nice, the food was actually mediocre. We ordered the crabcakes, the shrimp croquettes, and the buffalo chicken appetizers which were all very good. But the Paella was more like a risotto and needed salt, the lobster mac and cheese was too runny (not as creamy) and also lacked flavor, and the drinks were just okay. The service was very good, though, so I can't say is was a bad experience. I just wish the entrees were tastier.

Was hesitant to have Thanksgiving at McLoone's because of some of the previous reviews but am so glad we did. Everything was perfect...the buffet was delicious and plentiful, our waitress was very attentive and sweet, and the manager even took the time to stop by our table, ask how everything was, and talk for awhile.

But the most impressive thing was the employees that were working around the buffet. These guys were really hustling! They kept the buffet fully stocked, all the food was hot, they were very polite, and even apologized to me because they had to get me a soup spoon. Really? I had to wait a whole 30 secs. It was worth the wait because the soup was delicious. Honestly, everything was really really good.

Thank you to everyone at McLoone's for making our Thanksgiving so special. We will definitely be back soon.

Very nice atmosphere over looking the lake. Dual towering fireplace creates additional ambiance. Very nice Happy hour for after work cocktails. Dinner offerings while a bit pricey are well prepared and presented.

I wish they had more vegan options and no smoking on the outdoor patio. I go for the location and ambiance, but had to leave the patio's lovely fire because 3+ men were all smoking cigars. The staff is wonderful. Great service.
