Surprisingly a pretty good authentic Chinese restaurant in Morris county. There are a few and Qin Dynasty is that. The food has great flavor, the price is more than reasonable, it rivals many great Chinese restaurants in NYC and beats a lot of the mediocre ones. Soup dumplings are quite good
The only gripe I have with dim sum at this place is the way they handle wait, but that aside I'm well familiar with the much simpler culture of Asian food industry so I didn't let that affect my star rating which I gave as 4. The staff is friendly, the food is quite good, and the cart trips to the table are frequent. Not my first trip here; aside from the wait everything else about dim sum here is enjoyable.
Summary: a decent Chinese restaurant among its competitors in the area. Push-cart dim sum on the weekends and made-to order dim sum during the week. Also 3 dishes and 1 soup for $24 Monday through Thursday after 5pm (you have to ask for this menu because they don't give it out right away)!
Ive been here many times before for dim sum breakfast/brunch and other regular meals. Their cooking is good overall and I definitely get that authentic dim sum experience when I come on the weekends.
When I came the other night, it was my first time picking from their 3 dishes and 1 soup menu and gotta say that it's a good deal for a family of 4! If you wanted additional dishes, it's an extra $8 per dish. Each dish comes with a bowl of rice and they charge $1 for each additional bowl. My family and I ordered the shredded pork and vegetable soup (forget the exact name of it), salt and pepper pork chops, mix vegetables with fish cake, beef and bitter melon, and a salted fish, chicken and tofu pot. All dishes looked small but after eating, it was a decently sized meal to feed 4 people. The bitter melon was a little too bitter for me. The pork chops were a little too fried. But overall, I had a really good experience for dinner here and will likely come again.
There's a private parking lot but can get very hard to find parking during busy times, like on the weekends during lunch time. The restaurant is right off of 46 East. The entrance is just before the Red Hut Inn sign, can be easy to miss. They take credit cards but provide a cash discount.
Enjoy!
My go-to place for dim sum in the north Jersey area. Busy as usual, especially on holidays. Expect to wait, but easier than a trip into Chinatown. The food was good and the service decent. If you only speak English, you may need to point to items you want since the staff pushing the carts do not speak English well. Fun experience and the food was very hot and fresh.
Good food. Wait staff service is good.
Can get extremely crowded during peak dim sum hours. Unfortunately, the combination of small waiting area and large groups that come for dim sum combine for an annoying waiting experience. Parking is also a challenge.
If you can get past the hassle of getting a table, the food is authentic, consistent and fresh.
