Definitely the best sushi in the area! Can't beat the prices either. There's a ton you can't beat here actually! It's spacious, pretty quiet, centrally located, and fresh sushi! Everything I like! The staff are very helpful and it seems they genuinely care about each customer and their order. Normally I feel rushed in a "get in, get out" situation, especially with Asian cuisine. Can't wait to go back!
Since our local place closed a while back, we've been coming to Umi (still local, just a little further). I have to say, I'm thrilled our former sushi place shut down. We'd never have gone here otherwise. Their sushi is delicious, and they are very accommodating if you want to tweak a roll (cream cheese- blech).
They have no hibachi, but do make hibachi style dishes in their kitchen, and everything is perfect.... except the crispy duck. Each time wr tried, it was disappointing. Gave up on that one.
They are almost always packed in the evenings, and are currently expanding their dining room.
I hope they're around for many years! Kudos to them!
I’m not a California Roll type of sushi person, I’d like to think I know good/bad sushi when I taste it. Not the best sushi I’ve ever had, but it is good sushi. Factor in the cheap prices and you’ve got one of our favorite places to go. BYOB and enjoy!
I absolutely love this place. The staff is friendly, the food is excellent and affordable. They have a nice variety of sushi and sashimi. Their volcano roll is the best we've ever had! It's a busy but intimate place, BYOB. You can't go wrong!
If you love sushi and hibachi, look no further. I have never been to a more friendly and amazing Japanese restaurant until I stepped foot into Uminoya. It is located extremely close to Route 37 in Toms River and Route 70 in Brick. The parking lot is easy to get into and there is no hassle in getting out. This place gets busy on Friday nights, especially in the late summer. But that is a given with most places. You will get superb customer service. Well put together sushi from the awesome sushi chefs behind the counter. The staff is always polite and welcoming. The atmosphere is extravagant and relaxing. Every single thing about this place is flawless! I will continue doing my sushi get togethers here every weekend with my girlfriend! I highly recommend you coming here! Best Japanese food in and around Toms River!
