This review is based on the non-hotdog items.

I ordered a hamburger (which they slather in gravy), fries, and chili.

The hamburger was unique in that it was covered in gravy. It was juicy but not overly moist. The French fries were soft and warm (add your own salt). The chili tasted homemade and delicious.

The staff was very engaging drawing us into conversation about the history of the restaurant and it’s notable mentions. I really appreciated the old school feel of the restaurant.

Another great thing about this restaurant was the prices, which were very affordable. For about $10, I was able to completely fill my stomach.

CASH ONLY!!! Best hot dogs in NJ and maybe in the country. These are Thumans hot dogs deep friend but they are not breaded.

The people behind the counter have been there for over a decade and probably even longer.

Rippers - deep fried till they rip

Creator - deep fried basically to a pretzel rod.

Order the gravy cup to dip these dogs.

Pretty unique place. Like walking into a time machine. Pretty cool. You go for the hot dogs. You come back for the relish.

Best place for dogs in Northern Jersey. Home made relish is like nothing you have ever had. Bring cash as they don't accept anything but cash. Truly a NJ treasure that has been in business in this location sine the early 1900's.

I FINALLY was able to stop by Rutt's Hut and try their legendary Ripper hot dogs. Well, they certainly live up to all the hype. Amazing deep fried natural casing dogs. They also have their famous yellow relish that is simply amazing. They have other items that I am sure are probably good as well, but I came for the dogs. And I left more than satisfied. There is a reason this place is legendary. Do yourself a favor and grab some of the best dogs around.
