As soon as you walk in the door you can smell and taste the air. Always #1. Sauce
Plenty of local pizza shops in our area, and when in the pursuit for familiar flavors, making a stop to Piccolo's Pizza in Paterson seems like a good idea for those who prefer them over franchise pizzerias. Even in a big city like Paterson, there's an abundance of local shops, and in that stretch of Main St, you won't run out of options. I haven't been inside their shop to have a meal for a long time, but it also doubles as a local bar if you want to have a drink or eat pizza/food & sip, it has local/domestic brews mostly, as well as imports (Heineken/Corona), good for those who drink (I don't). There's also local delivery done, in case if you want that to be done, to most of Paterson or north Clifton.
If you've been to a local pizza shop, you won't feel out of place with their menu, featuring: classic pizzas (plain or with a choice of 10 toppings, even individual slices), specialty pizzas such as taco/hamburger/baked ziti/supreme/etc, sides such as garlic knots/buffalo wings/mussels/etc, sandwiches/subs (hot or cold), salads, pasta (spaghetti or ziti), dinner pastas like chicken cutler & chicken parm or eggplant Parmigiana and wraps. Their pizza sizes range from personal (10") which brings 6 slices, to medium (14"), to large (16").
My opinion, Piccolo's Pizza does a reputable job when I'm in this area for some quality pizza either for pickup or delivery to enjoy at my home. My go to items can vary from a plain pizza or a baked ziti pizza (ziti pasta & ricotta cheese on top of a cheese pizza), a baked ziti or a classic ziti pasta if I wanted old fashioned pasta (good it brings garlic bread on the side), and for sides, either garlic knots or zeppoli would work for either a savory or sweet way to start/end my meal. Fortunately all of them usually arrive with a larger portion size, so it's not only easy to fill up, but you can share with others without remorse! This was one of my go-to indie pizza spots to order/visit when I was in this neighborhood, and the charm and memories are still there. Plus I'm not one to shy away from asking for garlic powder & crushed red pepper for my orders, which fortunately is honored 90% of the time.
