I absolutely loved my lunch here and I'm so glad I stopped by! It's one of those places that has historic value and yet when you walk in you feel so special and cared about. I knew anything I ordered would be amazing and I really appreciate it all the little things that we could buy and take home also. I love the family that created this amazingly warm and friendly restaurant. I love the little special touches they did with what I ordered and excited to come back again.
Pre-ordered tamales for Christmas. The tamales were very good. I also got some made from scratch tortillas, freshly made salsa and cute decorated sugar cookies while I was waiting in line for the order pick-up. I don't know if this was a marketing ploy to sell more items, but I was grateful, because it was all good and helped me out. My only complaint -- and I don't like to complain-- but I did wait over an hour to pick up my order. There was a line for people ordering and picking up their pre-order, but it was the same line. The second line was for people ordering a freshly made meal. After almost an hour of waiting, they decided to change the lines, and the line I had been standing in became the food order line, and I had to move over to the tamale line, which put in me behind some folks that had come in after me. I was in physical pain because I have arthritis in both knees, and also joint pain in my an feet. This was very unkind and unfair. Please, have a system of handing out pre-ordered tamales. I'm not sure I will get them from here again?
I was smelling the tortillas all morning and they smelled like grandmas!. So lunch rolls around and I knew this would be the place to eat and glad I stopped by being that it has been decades since I last ate here. I am a taco fanatic and try them everywhere I go. La Mexicana's taco's were some of the best I have ever ate. Add the salsa to it and it takes it to another level. The beans and rice were just like g-mas. Sooo goood!! Don't even need honey with the sopa. And for the price, it was a pretty filling meal. Don't second guess this place cause it just might catch you by surprise.
Very Disappointing. I’ve been following La Mexicana to all of their previous locations since before I had kids and I’m 62. I read on Facebook they were having staff problems and closing the indoor dining until after the holidays. So of course I had to go there. I bought a half dozen tamales yesterday. My first one was a red sauce with very little meat and the second one had chopped not shredded pork and no Chile. I warmed another 2 today and they were all masa with very little meat. See pictures. I hope this gets resolved and they get a handle on their standards and quality of food.
