Have only done takeout but food is consistent and fresh! My go-to is the chicken lo mein but everything I’ve tried is good
From the first moment you step in that place team give you a nice feeling. Very warm crew, it is a kind place to pass time with buddies or with your date. heavenly meals, specialist chef de cuisine, honest cost and excellent service. Highly recommended.
This is a great cheap Chinese food restaurant. I had my first experience with it today. The food was delicious. The menu was very simple. Everything was either 8 bucks for the chicken and pork dishes or 9 for the seafood dishes. I had the general tso's chicken. It was really good. The food came to me on a rather unique serving tray. And it had a real spicy kick. I recommend the egg drop soup.
I've driven past this Bistro when leaving the Coronado Mall several times and it's always sparked my curiosity. The other day I finally got my chance to see what it's always about. First and foremost, the place was dead as a doornail during my entire visit with the only exception being when the food delivery guys stopped by to drop off some supplies. Considering the location and time of day; I wouldn't expect this to be terribly abnormal, nor a detrimental sign for how business is going (but I could be wrong).
The menu featured essential Chinese dishes with a few unique twists. I arrived just before lunch special time ended and was able to take full advantage. What caught my eye on it was the ambiguously named "Happy Family". I had to have my server explain to me that it was a combination platter consisting of various meats, vegetables, fried rice, egg roll, and a choice of soup; I chose the egg drop.
The egg drop soup was piping hot and delicious. It didn't come with any side plate of wontons, but the addition of peas and carrots made up for it. The overall meal itself was pretty good, but nothing beyond that. The meats were well cooked and seasoned but only made up about thirty percent of the dish's content. The fried rice was so-so as was the egg roll. Service was definitely a plus as my server was constantly checking up on me and refilling my water glass.
The Coronado/midtown area doesn't feature too many family-owned Chinese eateries. If in the area and looking for such a place, Tsai's Chinese Bistro will satisfy. My experience may not have been five stars, but given the chance, I would certainly return to try something else.
Definitely my new favorite Chinese spot in town. I've had three meals so far, and they have all been very good!
I love the interior decor - very clean floors and tables, the windows have these awesome sem-transparent blinds, and the food presentation is fantastic. Mind you, they do place paper liners on the tables - I personally do not mind.
They also deliver through GrubHub, and have been ahead of estimated time both times I've gotten them. Same high quality food, everyone who I've had try it seems impressed.
