My Family and I came here for lunch and our server Brian was terrific. He is in my opinion the best sever I had within the three Sadie's locations. He was attentive with out hesitation. He was very polite to my family and I. I will be back to the 4th St location just to have him as my server. Thank you Brian for the best experience.
Sadie's is always a go to for us. This time we were there with a group of 30. We had reserved this week's in advance with their event/catering department. We had to wait 30 minutes to be seated. We had one wait person and just the drink order took over 20 minutes. The wait person was working and hustling but come on one wait person for 30. When food came out other wait staff helped. A saving grace. Rating would be higher but they weren't prepared even with our advance reservation.
There a lot of first with Sadie's for me. This was my first visit to New Mexico and this was the first restaurant I went to after landing in New Mexico. I didn't realize that most places are closed in Albuquerque on Sunday and Monday so by default, Sadie's was open and near the hotel. So off we went.
Sadie's is a big restaurant from the outside and the inside. There are room upon rooms upon rooms as you enter this place. It is slightly archaic and does need an update. The decor is mismatched and all over the place - the chairs don't match the tables, the paintings are a mix of local artist, local students and the people coming here are of all ages.
The service is alright. The girls working in the front are neither smiling or helpful per say. They are there because they need to be. Our server was a young lad who was really nice and helpful. Overall, the whole vibe of this place is chaotically functional.
The food is a first for me in terms of New Mexican cuisine. Honestly, I wasn't a fan. The only thing I absolutely loved was their salsa - it was the only thing that had flavor. There was no option for soft or hard shelled tacos so by default every taco is hard shelled which I personally don't enjoy. Another first was that they don't have rice on their menu at all. I have always enjoyed a side of rice and beans but that wasn't an option here. Instead they serve potatoes and beans. But this wasn't exclusive to Sadie's, rice wasn't on the menu in many places around New Mexico. So I think that's why this is 'New Mexico cuisine'.
Overall, I was grateful that something local was open at the time of my arrival and after my experience here I realized why many of the locals come here - it's always reliable and something you can rely upon when needed.
Came with some friends, left with even more friends.
Nice place. My friend had to go get our drinks since our waitress bailed on us, and never said anything. Whatever. My friend was a good server of the drinks. I should have tipped her the $30 instead.
Food was food. Drinks were REALLY good (ordered a seasonal drink called the mistletoe) got a couple of em. They were great.
It was fun. I'd do it again.
