Great food, amazing service, 100% recommended. A great small town Mexican cafe.
On a recent trip from Ruidoso Downs to Buchanan Dam, we decided to stop at Geli’s Mexican Restaurant, and it turned out to be a delightful experience.
From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with great service. Our waitress was attentive and friendly, ensuring we had everything we needed throughout our meal. The restaurant has a warm, inviting atmosphere, which made our dining experience even more enjoyable.
We ordered a variety of dishes, including a taco plate, chiles rellenos, queso dip, chips, and salsa. The queso was absolutely wonderful—creamy and flavorful, perfect for dipping the fresh, crispy chips. The salsa was excellent, with a perfect balance of spice and freshness.
The taco plate was really good, with each taco packed with well-seasoned meat and fresh toppings. The rice and beans on the side complemented the tacos perfectly. However, the star of the meal was undoubtedly the chiles rellenos. They were the best we've had so far, cooked to perfection with a delicious filling and a perfectly crispy exterior.
A charming highlight of our visit was being served sopapillas by a young girl, who we believe is the owner’s daughter. She was about 10 or 12 years old and was incredibly cute and sweet, adding a personal touch to our meal.
Overall, our visit to Geli’s was a fantastic experience. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and the atmosphere was welcoming. We will definitely be coming back on our next trip through the area.
This appears to be a women owned business based on the staff were all women, which is fantastic.
The food was outstanding! I ordered a custom burrito with all veggies being a vegetarian. It tasted great and was the size of a football. The hash browns were perfect!
The servers were friendly and attentive; my coffee cup never got below half empty.
Nice local establishment that was packed (good to see).
Only one word comes to mind: Phenomenal!! We went for lunch and there were 9 of us at our table. The service was amazing and the food was crazy good! I cannot wait to go back for breakfast.
My youngest son and I stopped in for breakfast on a Wednesday morning and got seated right away. The server was very friendly and attentive. There was quite a crowd, not many open tables, but it did not allow down the service. Coffee for me and chocolate milk for the boy to start. The coffee was perfect! Not too stout but not weak. A really great cup. I ordered the Machaca (machacado, as I know it) with added proteins for a nice boost. My son ordered the pancakes plate. The food came promptly and one thing I noticed was the salsa. You can always tell the quality of the food in a Mexican restaurant by their salsa. It was fresh, plenty of flavor, and chunky. The machaca was cooked perfectly with a great mixture of savory and heat. The ham too was perfectly done, not overly salty with rich flavor. A great breakfast!
