On your way to see Billy you NEED to make a quick stop at Esther's.
The food and service is AMAZING
The best food in Fort Sumner hands down, and I'd say a gem in NM.
    Authentic, fresh ingredients!
No fake or pre made beef paties, real, real, real, he even goes as far as to cut of gristle just for your meal! Talk about service and fresh!Awesome Service!
    I can't recommend Esther's enough.
The owner BJ came out and introduced himself, I just can't say enough how personal, welcomingly wonderful the service & atmosphere was, that matches the food.
We are absolutely going again! 100☆s
Esther's is one of those rare 💎 gems you long to find in a quaint town like Fort Sumner known for "Billy the Kid" and in opinion "Esther's"

Oh and did I mention the green chili was on point as well as the red sauce!!!

In these photos we had Vjleo Burrito and Biscuits w/ eggs smothered with breakfast gravy & pepper.
    Both were sooooo good 🤤

The food was good and it is obvious that it's a family owned and operated place. Good service too. Lots of locals eating there.
We had a cheeseburger, spicy chicken sandwich, egg and meat plate & breakfast burrito. All were good and big portions. The green chile is good but HOT! 🥵
Only negative is that it was super hot inside. Either they don't have AC or it wasn't working, but we were all stuck to the chairs when we got up to leave.

It's a wonderful ole' time family diner with real homemade French fries, steak fingers, hamburgers, etc... My husband & I were traveling through at lunchtime. We loved the food & kind, gracious waitress, cook, and owner that all came out to chat...Refreshing!!!! 🤗

This place is awesome! Stopped while passing though. Great food and a fun environment. Their burger was fantastic and very flavorful. Owner operated when we went. He cares a lot about quality and customer satisfaction. He took the time to give recommendations and followed up on how we liked it. If you’re looking for a great meal while driving through, you should absolutely stop!

Local family business cooking up some excellent food. Small menu which allows them to cook up food fast and fresh. We had the green chile cheeseburger, steak fingers, chicken tenders, and the special, green chile chicken enchiladas. The burger is handmade and had great flavor with hot green chile. Home cut fries are so good, which are rare as most places these days serve frozen. Both tenders were very good, chicken had lighter batter than the steak. The enchiladas were excellent as well. Service is great, with the owner checking on you. Locals were very nice and it has a great small town cafe feel. Cafe and restroom both very clean.
