Memorable visit - Kind courteous and informative hospitality; excellent traditional food
Spotted the unassuming sign while looking for a restaurant in Zuni. Excellent choice. The exterior of the building is modest looking but the interior is just amazing. We had specialty sandwiches after enjoying a small order of nacho chips. Everything was made to order. The sign outside promises traditional foods with modern adaptations, and everything is excellent. It isn't fast food! Everything is made to order. Restaurant seats 24, and various configurations are available. We chose a table for 2 and it was more than adequately large.
Excellent visit. The food was delicious and the owner was very welcoming and friendly. Our party had the tamale, Indian taco, red chili and sandwich. All of it very good. We will come again, and we highly recommend.
A mom and pop bistro. Don't be fooled by calling it mom and pop as the food is world class. A unique section of the menu is the traditional native foods. I ordered the traditional tamale which came with beans and a sopapilla. The food was made from scratch as we waited using blue corn and red chili. It took extra time as she had to hand make the items from the time we ordered. The tamale had some kick but it was soon forgotten after I chased it down with a sopapilla and honey. The owners were kind enough to share their culture as you enjoyed the atmosphere of the charmingly remodeled home turned restaurant. Eat, chat, share, learn and enjoy.
A great restaurant to visit. Be aware, if you are short on time they make everything to order. The food will take a bit, but I feel that the great food outweighs that.
