This was a breath of fresh air in New Mexico. Incredibly clean location and the staff was friendly. The food lacked a little spice, but overall was good. We tried the chicken & French toast - which was our favorite dish. The French toast was fluffy and the fruit was fresh. The kid in our group tried the mac & cheese, which was a little bland. Lastly I had the rice bowl with fried chicken and green chili. If I got it again I would go with the burger pattie because it would have added a little more flavor than the chicken. All the flavors together meshed well.
    Don’t miss this place.

Great little diner! Very clean and cool atmosphere. Food was excellent! We got the green chile cheeseburgers. Fries were crispy and delicious and the burgers were so friggin good. Everything in them was super fresh and flavorful. The menu is varied and they have beer and wine as well.

Highly recommend stopping by if you're driving through like we did! Cards accepted and prices were reasonable. They had outdoor seating so we were able to bring our dog as well.

I came across the restaurant on Instagram after looking up the town of Magdalena. The owner, Osiris, was very friendly and told me to drop by the next time I visited. So, I did! She is even friendlier in person and such a sweet soul. The restaurant itself is also amazing. I love the decor and the servers were attentive. The food was also amazing. I ordered the black bean patty in a bowl with "Christmas" chilli all three times I ate there. It was that good. If you're vegetarian, I highly recommend it. If you don't eat eggs, be sure to let them know as it does come with one. Hands down the best diner I've visited in the 35 states I've traveled to so far. Would not hesitate to stop here again. Add it to your bucket list. ☺️

Tumbleweeds is probably the best restaurant in Socorro County, and absolutely worth visiting, whether you're passing by on 60 on a long trip, or a local searching for good food in a friendly environment.

We go about once a month, or every other, depending on circumstances (so these photos are from various visits not a single meal!) and have never had a bad experience. The owners are friendly and welcoming and the service is always excellent. We look forward to our visits, not just because of the great food but also because it's just pleasant to be there.

But about the food: It's fresh, from scratch, and made by folks who know what they're doing. The regular menu has many fantastic options. Some of our favorites: the enchiladas, with their own nice twist on the traditional flavors; the chicken sandwich--I get it 'hot' level of spicy--which is juicy and crisp and certainly could best any place in the 'chicken sandwich wars'; the mac and cheese, which has an amazing cheese sauce. But, my advice is to check the board for the specials. Some of the best burgers I've ever had have been weekend specials here. As an aside, I eat meat probably once or twice a month at most and tend to save one of my meals with meat for a visit to Tumbleweeds---the burgers and fried chicken sandwiches are that good. Also, the pinon coffee is somehow better than it is anywhere else---seriously it actually tastes like pinon coffee here.

Something else about Tumbleweeds worth mentioning is that it's committed to the local community. One small example: It occasionally hosts makers markets for local artisans. The business is serious about being part of Magdalena and the surrounding parts of the county. Small businesses with owners like this can help sustain and give breath to small towns--I've seen it happen elsewhere--and it's a blessing to have one like this here.

We found Tumbleweeds Diner through Harvest Host, an app that helps travelers find places to boondock. We originally had planned on staying here for the night but we ran ahead of schedule so we stopped in for lunch instead. So glad we did! Everything about this place is the absolute cutest. Not to mention the food was amazing. The chicken sandwich was perfect, juicy meat, crispy but not too thick crust, seasoned and flavored well. The burger was delicious as well and while many places underestimate the importance of a good bun, Tumbleweeds did not. What a delightful surprise this little place was!
