Out of all the Thai restaurants in the area, Sweet Basil makes the best and most authentic pineapple fried rice. I’ve spent s couple months in Thailand and did cooking classes too. A lot of dishes get “Americanized” but they have some great authentic dishes. Highly recommend!

This is a nice cozy little restaurant with soft Asian music playing in the background. The food was well prepared with just the right amount of seasoning and spice. I ordered the dumplings and red curry chicken with noodles. Excellently prepared meal served very quickly. I can't wait to try something else on the menu.

Very busy on Sunday nights. The foods are really good. If you like Thai food , you will like this restaurant. Recommend the wings and curry rice. And the soup is very creamy and just like what I got in Thailand.

Sweet Basil is a very cozy place, serving flavorful Thai cuisine in downtown Albany. I had lunch there and ordered the fried calamari, and Thai fried rice with shrimp.

The calamari was interestingly cut. It was not in rings, but in strips, so it was actually more meat than you'd expect, and less of the batter. It was served with a pleasantly sweet dipping sauce.

When my entree came out, it was a huge bowl of steaming shrimpy goodness. The rice was perfectly browned, and had a really great smoky flavor you can only get by taking your time. The shrimp was well cooked, but not overcooked and there was enough there to be a dinner.

What really made it for me were the little things like how much egg and vegetables were in the rice to balance everything out. I'm kind of ashamed to admit that I ate every grain, but it was that good.

The *only* critique I could possibly say is a little more salt on the calamari would have made this a 5 star. That being said, I will definitely be back! Yum.
