The City Beer Hall

If you are looking for a place in downtown Albany on a Sunday, this is probably one of the only places that is actually open. We stopped here for a beer and a quick bite. They are super covid compliant with hand sanitizer and masks readily available upon entry.

We sat at the bar which is appropriately spaced and I ordered some fries, which are crispy shoestrings with a side of spicy dip, and lightly salted, My dining mate also ordered yogurt which is not on their menu but we somehow found it on the Internet so they made it anyway but it is not an item they normally serve. They do not give you menus. The chef actually came out and asked if she was allergic to nuts because he was going to make her a wonderful concoction. When that came out I realized I definitely ordered the wrong thing! It looked so healthy and delicious with fresh fruit and nuts.

The bartender was attentive and genuinely friendly. Give this place some love. It's a gem! Lots of space, great uniques tastes and cool peeps!

My type of place! Historic venue right in the heart of downtown Albany. I LOVE the historic structure and all the historic photography and art inside. Easy to walk to from the nearby hotels. I had the raspberry sour on the tap. Extraordinary. Good selection of beers. Food menu featured a good mix too. Recommend for travelers and locals alike.

The service was great, the beer was good, the place is nice, but the food was bad.

Charcuterie board was strange- no cheese, not enough toast, no mustard or anything, and not the best tasting components.

The lemon shrimp cocktail is also a little strange.

And the brick chicken was really dry.

The salad with the chicken was good.

Great beer selection. The burger is amazing, as well as the steak chimichurri. Both were perfectly cooked to our desire. Even the white wine was at proper temperature. Devin provided great service. This is for sure one of the best places in Albany.

Great food and fantastic beer list as always! Menu has options for everyone, including vegetarian and vegan. Patio is still fabulous, and tables are appropriately distanced which makes for a safe and really chill dining experience (also really enjoyed the music selection on the patio!). Everyone (staff and customers) had masks on when necessary and were super friendly. Thanks for the great vibe - we'll definitely be back!
